Scheduling Guidelines
Regular Season Games
1) Each season should be scheduled with an even number of games
a) Spring – 8
b) Fall – 10
2) Start Times
a) Saturday games should start no earlier than 9am
b) Sunday games should start no earlier than 1pm
3) Ensure proper time between games
a) Instructional games should be scheduled at least 1 hour apart
b) Passers games should be scheduled at least 1 hour and 15 minutes apart
c) Wings games should be scheduled at least 1 hour and 30 minutes apart
4) Schedule games back-to-back as much as possible (for referees)
5) Spring Season should complete no later than the last week of school (Sycamore schedule)
6) Fall Season should not start prior to the first week of school (Sycamore schedule)
7) At least two rain dates should be scheduled per season (and clearly marked with times on schedule)
8) Schedules should be balanced within one game. (i.e. team A should not play team B once and team C three times. Should have team B twice and team C twice).
9) Do not schedule a team to play twice in one day
10) Have schedules ready prior to coaches meeting
11) GSSA will follow Sycamore Schools Recognized Holidays, with best effort to Avoid scheduling games on the following days. Understand we have limited time frame to get the games in.
Spring
a) Sycamore schools spring break (both weekends)
b) Easter Sunday
c) Passover (first two days)
d) Mothers Day (Sunday)
e) Memorial Day weekend
Fall
a) Labor Day weekend
b) Rosh Hashana
c) Yom Kippur
Inhouse Tournament Games
1) Make sure that teams have at least 1 hour between each game
2) No more than two games per day
