Rec Plus Program

We have great news to share with you and your family!

We are offering the Rec Plus Program to boys and girls playing in the Wings, Strikers, and Kickers Age Groups for the Fall 2012 season.

The concept of Rec Plus is simple. Our more highly skilled players will have the opportunity to play more “competitive” soccer in a Cincinnati SAY sponsored “Rec Plus” League, while still playing with their regular “recreational” GSSA Team.

Rec Plus gives our top players the opportunity to play with and against more highly skilled players without making the time or financial commitments required by most Select, or Club programs. Many players, and parents, have previously expressed interest in having this kind of option within GSSA.

Program Overview:

¨      Rec Plus teams will play 5-6 games during the season. Games will be played on Sundays, and will not conflict with regular Rec Games. We plan to start playing Rec Plus Games in September. Last Spring, we had participation from West Chester, Milford, Lakota, Kings, and Loveland. Our goals for the Fall are to add at least 2 more clubs.

¨      Rec Plus Teams will practice one night per week - Friday Nights. We plan to bring in Paid Trainers for this practice. Last Fall and Spring, we had a very positive experience using Challenger Sports (British Coaches) and are planning to use them this Spring. Rec Plus Players are required to attend one practice with their regular GSSA Recreational Team, but are excused from the Rec Team's second practice. This will result in a total of two practices per week and two games on some weekends.

¨      All SAY rules apply. Among other things, this means that each player is guaranteed two periods of playing time per game, just like in the Rec Program.

¨      There is a ~$50 - $75 per player fee to help offset expenses. (jerseys, ref fees, and trainers)

¨      Payment will not be collected until we confirm the number of teams and players participating

¨      We will finalize the program fees and number of clubs and teams participating by Aug 15th.

¨      More complete program information is available from your coach, or here

Team Formation:

A very important piece of input to the team formation process is your interest, and ability level.   If you are interested, you should discuss this opportunity with your parents and/or coach. If your parents and/or coach agree that you are, or have been, one of the top 4-6 players on your GSSA recreational teams in the past, youshould complete and return the attached form.

Forms should be returned to me as soon as possible, no later than July 15th, 2012.   Once most of the forms are back, we’ll decide how to form the teams based on the number of players interested in participating at your level. I’ll get back to anyone who submits a form with next steps no later than August 15th, 2012.

I hope you all have a great soccer experience this season,

Paul Isakson
