GSSA – BLUE ASH MEMORIAL DAY PARADE – Monday May 26th, 2014
Parents and Coaches,
This year, GSSA has been selected to participate in the Blue Ash Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th. We are really excited about our selection and hope to have a great representation of our players, parents and coaches.
The parade starts at 10:15 AM (though we have to be at the staging area by 9:15 AM at the very latest). The route is an easy one (1) mile. It starts at Reed Hartman and Cooper Road and ending at the Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park on Blue Ash Towne Square. What a perfect way to start off your Memorial Day!!!!
Our participation involves your child-athletes wearing their GSSA jersey (and your uniform socks and shorts if you want to) and walking in the parade (don’t wear cleats). If you have other children who are not playing soccer this spring, but have played in the past, include them! Simply have them wear one of their GSSA soccer jerseys from a prior season. If you have younger kids, put them in the jog stroller or a wagon and bring them along! Coaches, we’d like you to wear your coaching shirt if possible. We will have bouncy mini-soccer balls for the kids to distribute to the parade watchers along the route. (we’ll give you enough balls so each child gets to keep one at the end of the parade.)
We need your help in making this a fun and successful event. First of all, we are going to ask the coaches to be the team leaders to garner interest and get head counts. Coaches, if you could get a tentative headcount and send that to Jeff Bieber at firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, May 22nd he would appreciate it. That way we’ll know what to expect in terms of participants, we can tell the parade coordinators what to expect, and how many mini-soccer balls we need to bring.
Parents, we need your help in:
1) acting as chaperones for your kids and their teammates, and
2) getting the kids on time to the staging area no later than 9:15 AM and connecting them with your appointed chaperone .
The drop off point is Plainfield School located on Cooper. There are road closures and one-way directional traffic routes so plan ahead on your timing (see map). This is not a “drop your child off and return in an hour”. We need a ratio of 4:1, one parent/coach for every four kids. And if you are not walking in the parade, you need to meet your child at the end of the parade in Blue Ash Towne Square. The earliest we would arrive there would be 11:00 AM – but it is dependent upon our slot in the actual parade.
The links include( /Portals/1059/docs/General participants Info Letter 2014 (redacted).pdf ,/Portals/1059/docs/MAY12-_Memorial_Day_Parade.pdf, & /Portals/1059/docs/memorial day participant map (highlighted).pdf) the parade staging map along with the instruction letter from the City of Blue Ash (see map and participant letter). I have redacted the information that does not apply to us – thus the letter looks incomplete – but don’t worry, it has everything you need. Also attached is the general parade information on Blue Ash's website. If you have questions, please funnel them through your coaches so we don’t inundate Blue Ash. This is our first go at this, so we all have questions, but the end result is for our kids to have a great time and march in a parade! We hope to see you there! - THE GSSA BOARD.

Now Offering Rec Plus to Wings, Strikers, and Kickers!
The concept of Rec Plus is simple. Our more highly skilled players will have the opportunity to play more “competitive” soccer in a Cincinnati SAY sponsored “Rec Plus” League, while still playing with their regular “recreational” GSSA Team...
